OT Security: The Growing Exposure of Critical Infrastructure
Operational Technology environments were once considered isolated and inherently secure by design, but the reality has changed. As OT and IT continue to converge, remote access expands, and threat actors increasingly target Critical National Infrastructure, the OT threat landscape has fundamentally shifted.
At the same time, the rapid growth of IoT devices across operational environments has significantly expanded the attack surface, often into areas where visibility, segmentation and governance were never designed with modern cyber threats in mind. The introduction of CAF and NIS2 reflects growing recognition that OT cyber risk is now an operational resilience issue, not simply an extension of traditional IT security.
