The UK IT Leaders Community Day 2024 was held at The Birmingham Conference and Events Centre in Birmingham with the theme ‘Acting Differently.’ This was our second landmark event, drawing over 250 industry professionals for a day filled with inspiration, knowledge sharing, and community building.
Attendees were invited to attend one of the five roundtable dinners held the night before. The main event featured keynote speeches, breakout sessions, networking opportunities, and concluded with a charity event, providing a well-rounded and impactful experience for all attendees.
The day started with an inspiring keynote for Sarah Armstrong-Smith, Chief Security Advisor at Microsoft. Acting Differently – leading in cybersecurity.
Steve Lydford, COO at Codurance talked to the audience about Connecting Business Impact to Developer experience. Richard Hutching, CTO at Littlefish discussed The Cloud Powered Workplace: EUC 2.0 and Mark Simpson, Technology Director at Griffiths Waite talked about Gaining Strategic Advantage with Generative AI.
The final keynote speaker of the day was Kevin Sinfield CBE – Kevin is an English Rugby Union coach, currently the skills and kicking coach for the England National Team.
He talked about going ‘The extra mile. And lessons from rugby for life.
This was an amazing keynote reflecting on his rugby career and how his outlook on life changed when his teammate Rob Burrow was diagnosed with MND.
Attendees were given a choice of eight breakout sessions to attend offered a wide range of topics and discussion.
The day concluded with a fun evening charity event where attendees were able to try out their skills playing VR games, and enjoy drinks served by a robotic bartender. The chosen charity this year was the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Adding to the intellectual stimulation was a thought-provoking panel discussion with Littlefish on "AI and the Future of IT Support," where industry experts delved into the transformative impact of AI on IT support services. The panel explored both the opportunities and challenges posed by AI, providing valuable insights for attendees looking to future-proof their IT strategies.
The day also featured an engaging keynote by Jamie Peacock MBE, titled "Thinking Differently/Leading in Sport." Jamie's experiences from his illustrious rugby career offered profound lessons in leadership and innovation, resonating deeply with the audience.
